Color Advice Please

I'm getting home ready to sell and have blue toilet & tub in the bathroom....what would be a good neutral color to use on the walls. The rest of the house is very neutral. The vanity/sink are both white and it's a small bathroom. The last color I chose looks really bad after all that work. I'm definitely color challenged.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How about a nice crisp linen white? You could use blue and white towels as accents. Then, shine your blue fixtures to an inch of their life.:)

I agree with Dee. The tile and fixtures have pretty much set the tone for you. White curtain, towels and crisp linen walls, shiny chrome fixtures and it will look great.

I agree with Dee too. White and blue will help it all blend together. Crisp white walls and striped towels or layered white and blue towels. Make them something you will want to use in your new home but look good in the house you are selling.

Here is a link that might be useful: towels

I would paint the walls chocolate brown. then get blue and brown towels -- not hard to get- Target has them.

Thanks to all!! The towels convinced me though I couldn't find them on that link. The bathroom is an odd brown color now and it doesn't go with the rest of the house. I'll be painting white tomorrow! Thanks so much!!

Maybe too late, but a very pale silver shade with white trim might look fresh, especially if you have chrome hardware.

In any case, do not add any more blue to the room. My parents have the same blue tub, sink and tile and any time they picked something blue to put in there, whether light, dark, or trying to match, it was a huge mistake.

You could also try a very pale lemon or pale kiwi type green. If you do a green shade, make it beachy by adding some sand color towels. I would definitely strive for light and airy colors.

How about a beachy theme? Paint the walls a soft sand color. Hang a picture of a sandy beach with bright blue water and put a bowl of shells somewhere in the room. That would make the blue seem kind of deliberate. White towels and shower curtain.

I agree about the shades of shell and sand...but not the grayed-down ones you see in historic collections...something light and luminous. Bright white trim, and something really pale on the walls like "subtile" (AF-310) from BMoore's Affinity group, or "Eggwhite" (SW-6364) from Sherwin Williams. Paint the ceiling that color, too.

Look for towels striped in sand and white, rather than trying to match the blue.

Then add a wonderful poster in a perfectly simple frame, like one of these (all from "allposters"):

My master bathroom still has fixtures in that same blue color. (I will hopefully be remodeling in the next few years. Tile is purchased, but need to save up for a nice vanity and glass shower doors.) We purchased it in this state, so the blue must not have been too much of a turn off. In fact, this was the best bathroom of the house. The others had harvest gold fixtures that we are slowly replacing as we remodel.

Our walls and trim are white. Right now we use charcoal or light grey towels. I love the idea of pale blue or even better: pale blue and white patterned towels. Love the ones vampiressrn posted. Here are some others to consider.

Personally, I would probably go with white paint on the walls and trim. White usually looks clean and fresh in a bathroom. And white and blue usually look fantastic together. A light beige might also work. Depending on your fixtures, it might be nice to find some affordable lighting and framed mirrors to update the style a little bit. (I have very outdated 1970s light fixture and a massive mirror that is about as far from spa-like as you can get.)

Update....Walls are painted white and it looks very bright & fresh. I'm heading out today to look for towels and etc. I'm very thankful for all the suggestions as they will be very helpful as I shop today. Thanks so much for all your help!
Pricklypearcactus....my other bathroom has the sunshine yellow fixtures...I'm ready to leave the 70's. I have replaced all the lights and it did made a big difference. Again...thanks to all!!
