We are in the same boat (I am right handed, hubby left). Once our cabinets were in, we took turns holding up the faucet in the center of where the sink would be in order to determine which placement would work best for the soap dispenser and air switch. This is what worked for us:

I placed mine about where kitchenaddict did; perhaps another half inch away from the handle. I figured the handle side was the best place as I would not be putting detergent or sponges there; that stuff is over to the left of the faucet. But the switch not so close by that water is always dripped onto it from the handle; even though they are very waterproof, why tempt fate?

Ditto with the placement that kitchenaddict has for mine too.

I can't believe this question was posted 9 years ago (!) but I thank you for your input. I'm deciding today where to put it, and I was thinking nearer to the faucet would be good; optimizing the convenience factor. But due to your input, I'll put it further out. Thanks!
