Since the bed over extends into the windows you can disguise that by putting one drapery rod across the whole wall. Then have a fabric panel behind the entire bed and extend into the windows. Have two panels on either side of the windows. I like your fabric choices.

I like the bold fabric choices, but it may be a bit much for a whole wall, and your daughter might tire of it sometime. Could be neat as a border though, and I have seen pics where the accent fabric was at the top or the top and bottom and/or on the side. Or maybe just in the middle over the bed as suggested by mmilos.

Hi, well, I believe, the bed does not belong on that wall. The room does not look like the room for a 6 yo girl, it needs to be more playful and fun. I would remove the stain furniture or have it painted. Why did you want to move the bed to the wall with the windows?? This bed should be place on the solid wall and I would do a small desk in between the windows. Now, I dont like any of the fabrics, you picked, not because they are not nice, but, because they are not fun, little girls like flowers, mystical themes, castles and butterflies. The fabrics you have swatches from, I would do for an older person. Now, in case you keep the bed, where it is now, I would hang the curtain rods right below the crown molding, I would do 2 full panels ( 1 width each ) and since the furniture seems misplaced, I would do a sheer fabric throughout the entire wall. Gee, now I'm really confused on where to put the furniture. Ralston, here are images of how I had it before. I thought people were telling me to change walls because it was more symmetrical this way. I appreciate all the advice, especially from a professional. The room is far from complete. The artwork is butterflies, as are the pillows, so I think I've got the 6yo girl part incorporated. She has been involved every step! Plus I took her with me fabric shopping and she likes these!! Now her fave was a hot pink zebra print, but that's not happening:)
Incidentally, I live in a modest (by FFD county standards) home in Westport. I certainly don't have a "high end" budget, but maybe you'd like to come up and give me a free consultation!

If you keep the bed on the window wall, I would suggest a continuous fabric wall, from wall to wall, or window to window in a fabric that is soothing but complementary to the patterns and colors she likes. For a 6 year old room I would prefer a twin bed to open up the space; or bunks. Instead of the large dresser I would go with a smaller dresser and a desk and chair of some kind. Good luck.

I like the furniture with the bed between the windows. I think it works. All you have to do is move the great art piece to the empty wall and maybe add a chair and some shelving for her toys and books. I think the furniture is fine as is as well. With a few more girly things, this room will be perfect. Great fabric choices. I like the second from the top, although the last one is fun. Any of them will be great. I don't understand why someone would say this is not a great room for a girl. She'll like it when she is six and when she is twelve! Well done, mom.

Its hard to get a feel for how big the room actually is, but it looks like the bed overpowers the room. I'd be tempted to get a smaller bed and give your daughter more play space. Also, I would not put it on the window wall. I like the idea of a small desk or shelves for books and such between the windows.

A lot of these problems would be solved with a smaller bed. Does she need the large bed for any reason? It is a lovely bed but could it be put away for later in favour of a twin bed for now?

Sure, lots of problems can be solved simply by buying new stuff!! Bed and furniture are fixed items. Too much investment already put into them. Even if I got rid of the bedframe, I have to use a queen mattress because we have no guest room and this is where grandparents sleep when they come. Maybe I can have the dressers painted... I was striving for a look that was original and not too kiddie - she won't be little forever and I don't have the time, money or patience for doing this over and over and over. I really do not enjoy decorating and have no confidence in my choices. But I also don't want to open Pottery Barn catalogue and see my house.

We have a playroom and a designated room downstairs for doing homework and art projects, so she doesn't need playspace or a desk. I like the look of the sheers all the way across behind the bed. Some great lamps for the nighttables...move the art and if I can, fit a small chair and maybe floating shelves.

Truthfully, I am a perfectionist and this room is killing me!
Let's say I had $500 - what would you do with it in this room???

In reference to your previous post, I much prefer the old location of the bed as opposed to having the headboard on the window wall. I would suggest just eliminating the extraneous 2nd painted nightstand.
Your daughter's room is perfectly adorable.

Single panel for each window would look best on a white wooden pole. The design looks lovely and would recommend going for the swatch at then bottom.
