Cabinet hardware advice

Hello all,

My husband and I are newlyweds moving on up to our second house and we're working on projects around the house before we move in. One project is the kitchen. My husband hates the cabinet hardware! I personally don't mind it, but I figure I'll give him say on one thing :)

The cabinets are very nice, so we are only changing the countertops and hardware (and removing the laminate backsplash). We will be putting in black epoxy resin countertops (as in a chemistry lab). We want the kitchen to have a nod to the craftsman style.

I'm attaching a pic of one of the cabinets in question and would love hardware suggestions. Hopefully not too expensive per pull because this kitchen has A LOT of cabinets.

Check this link....there is more there if you poke around! This site was supplied by my cabinetmaker. He felt like they were reasonable!

Excellent! Your hardware is not hideous by any means, but I think a new set will give your kitchen a fresher look. The choices you've made so far will work very nicely with your oak cabinets, so good for you keeping them the way they are.

If I were you, I'd take a pull down to wherever in your town stocks lots of cabinet hardware (big box store, hardware store, Target, etc) and see what matches the screw spacing and the finish. No need to change out the hinges; they look like antique brass or bronze, can't tell for sure but it's a color that looks great with oak, so you might as well try to keep the same finish. If you can't find anything that suits you, there are lots of places to look online. I like finding hardware locally myself because I can't tell how they'll feel in hand (or look in the room, really) in pictures. Don't forget to make sure your and DH's fingers fit behind whichever one you choose.

I really like my Amerock Westerly pulls but I don't think they come in a color that matches your hinges. Their Mulholland pulls are similar in shape and come in more colors and I think are Mission-ish in appearance. (I mean the square-ish ones, though the rounded ones would also look nice with your cabinets.)

Springroz and northcarolina: thank you so much! You gave me a good direction to go in. What do you think of the ones I'm linking below? Are they too "literally" craftsman? I'm hoping for something that comes in a value pack because I counted 53 pulls in the kitchen. Oy!

I like them! The only two caveats I'd have would be to make sure that the ends that stick out beyond the posts don't catch your clothes (there have been other discussions about this and some people don't have trouble with it); and have a good look at a few of them installed to make sure they are not too busy against your oak. I don't think they will be, but I can't tell multiplied by 53 and against the strong graining of your cabinets. It would take a lot for a dark pull on a medium-dark background to look "busy," so probably I am talking through my hat and it's nothing to worry about. I think they're really good-looking pulls and not something you see every day. That's a great price too! I hope you can get the extra 3 separately without having to buy three packs of 50 -- but even three packs would still be a good price for that many cabinet pulls.

Skip Overstock and go straight to the Gliderite.com website! They come in packs of ten and are cheaper than overstock if you can believe it. Awesome customer service as well- we got 50 pulls(European style) for about $100. One came slightly scratched and they overnighted me a brand new one no questions asked. They are extremely good quality as well. One of the best secrets about my kitchen!

The pulls you linked above are the same ones the are on my laundry room cabinets. Just thought you might like to see how they look on oak cabinets that are almost the same color as yours. So here's a couple of photos

Good call CKGM, I found that gliderite has an eBay store and I can buy the exact number of pulls I need for a lower price than elsewhere!

Badgergal, thank you so much! That looks fabulous. I think these are the ones! :)

Thank you everyone. I'm sure I'll be back for more advice!
