MBR 'Mentalpause' inspiration!

I was inspired by the recent "menatlpause thread" and got excited about changing things up in my MBR! I went to Calico Corners today looking for a specific Laura Ashley fabric, and instead, fell in love with the Bosporus Toile fabric in flax! Found two more fabrics that I thought went well with it and then went over to the BM store on the way home for paint chips. I chose BM Delaware Putty 240. My bedding is a white duvet with a silvery blue greek key border similar to all those hotel bedding styles so popular right now. The dark bronze fabric is a velvet. Since I have the white duvet, how should I arrange the fabics? I planned on new drapes, bedskirt and euro shams. Where do I put what? That's where you all come in! Here is my little inspiration board. If I can find my camera, I'll take a pic of my samples.

I would use the toile for the curtains (and a long rectanglar accent pillow for the bed) so you can appreciate the gorgeous scenes!

I would have the dark bronze velvet made into a spare wintertime duvet cover. With matching shams -- and the toile or a plain side so you could "flip" for a change.

I would have the check fabric on a bench or chair (no tufting of course)

Isn't that too funny! our rooms are going to be twinkies..

First we both liked the braemore garden toile. Then, last week on a late night whim, I bought the bosporous toile in flax! I love the velvet you selected! I haven't received the toile so I haven't matched a velvet as yet. I also bought an ivory hemstitch duvet cover last week.

I like every one of teacat's ideas... especially the long pillow to showcase the scenes. As you know, I was going to do a throw or quilt with my velvet but if the weight is ok, I think a velvet duvet would be scrumptious!

Did we come up with these ideas independently or did I know (and forgot) that you were leaning towards the bosporous? I was inspired by OSHs pillows, I think-- perhaps we both were?

Thanks Teacats! I hadn't thought about the velvet as a duvet. That particular velvet also came quilted. You could get either. Nice idea and a great option. Hmmm....The check fabric isn't showing up very well. It is more of a cream, tan and robin's egg color combo. Looks teal on the monitor. I was thinking of drapes in the toile maybe with a border of the check. They are beautiful togther. Silvery blues go well with the toile. Bedskirt in the check too? Or euro shams? Any other ideas out there? I should have said this earlier, but I love the color scheme of tan, cream and glacier blue. And while we're at it, yes, I could also use a chair or two somewhere. I have nothing else but the bed to sit on.

Funky, my friend from the mentalpause thread! I did an inspiration board using the garden toile in that thread! I saw the garden toile today, and even if I don't "know" you, I thought of you! I didn't realize it was like a polished cotton, so now I understand your hesitation for the duvet. If you haven't found a paint yet, take a look at BM Delaware Putty. Gorgeous with this toile! There were so many other great fabrics in CC today, I was embarrassed to keep asking for clippings! There was a gorgeously soft velvet corduroy in aqua. I can see that as a throw at the end of the bed! If only $$ didn't have to be an issue, but it was 50% off!

I was just looking at that fabric the other day. I second Teacat's ideas and I love your idea of putting the checked fabric on the curtains too.

A velvet duvet would be beautiful. I've also seen a throw type piece that can be placed across the bottom of the bed, fringed on the ends that would be nice if you didn't want a duvet. Think of it about the size of a duvet folded in thirds at the end of the bed.

I don't know if you are plannning to have the items made at CC or elsewhere, if elsewhere I wanted to suggest you look at Fabric.com, Fabricguru.com and ebay for the toile. I have seen it at some very reasonable prices, although the flax color may be harder to find.

Can't wait to see it all!

Wow, it's a toile kind of day around here.

Beautiful fabrics. I'd like to see a stripe thrown into the mix, or at the very least, the velvet corduroy done on a chair. That would give your bedroom an extra texture and would resemble a stripe.

I could see the check on a bedskirt if you liked.

Silly me, I didn't get a piece of the velvet corduroy! I agree parma, it needs another texture. I guess I could always go back to CC. And this time, I will write down the names of fabrics!!
Tina, yes! I saw the toile on one of those sites for $15.95 /yd. I do try and contain my excitemnet when I'm in CC. I can get carried away in there!!

I just saw 4 curtain panels listed for $590 on ebay. Gulp!

    Gulp, maybe.

I just took the stupid Smith&Noble catalogue to bed with me last night and they wanted over $1,000 for two panels in #3 fabric for my dining room. It's not a vaulted room, just 9' ceilings.

Hey all! I'm the mentalpause lady!

I LOVE that toile!! We don't have CC here and am wondering where else I can find it. I guess it's fairly expensive?? I'm using the Malika rug from PB in my living room with my gorgeous new white sofa. Thanks for all the inspiration. I'll check out the BM putty color also.

Kmcg, what is the name of that gorgoeous plaid fabric? Also I'm looking for some sort of bronze velvet for a chair. Any ideas?

I saw those curtains too kmcg. The price of them was what pushed me to buy the raw yardage.

The corduroy velvet sounds really interesting. I am a sucker for velvet.

We don't have a CC around here-- but I used to drool.. er shop there when I lived in Delaware. I am not sure if i will use the bosporous toile in my BR yet.. I think it could also work in my LR and DR. I'll wait til it arrives to decide.

I do still love the garden toile-- it makes me happy and so far, it is the best match for my bed. I would love to use it in my BR but I have accepted that it won't be on a duvet.

I will look at the BM Delaware Putty. I am not sure if I have the name right, but I was considering SW Cashmere (or a name similar to that). I haven't tried to nail down a color since I am still working through bedding. Also, I am leaning towards something with a color to it though since the hall and 2 other BRs are SW Tavern Taupe.

Caramia, The bronze velvet is very pretty and looks stunning with the toile! It is also from CC. The name is Chilton Bronze and it also comes quilted. That plaid is also from, you guessed it, CC! The colorway is 'Seaglass'. However, you can find the toile for much less on ebay.
Funkyart, On the CC site, the bosporus toile is in the 'Cypress Grove' collection. It is shown with other pretty fabrics. You might get some ideas.

Thanks, kmcg! I searched for Seaglass and couldn't find it. But I did find it with the name seamist. It's lovely!

Oh, sorry caramia! My mistake. Paint colors, fabric names, they all run together in my mind after awhile! Glad you found it!
