We had Seagull in last house. It was fine, we never would have changed it. It was hot--we had the xenon bulbs. We are doing the led tape lights from Maxim STarstrand this time--You can buy the strips in 1' segments, up to maybe 5'. They can be attached to each other.

You need to go to your local lighting store and see what's out there. We are doing lighting in the glass cabinets and this is also another reason we are not doing the Seagull. They are bigger in size than the tape and we need something relatively flat in our situation, I have glass on the sides of the cabinets as well so they have to be fairly hidden.

I think your guy is just used to Seagull, and he might not want to branch out.

Go to the store, a good lighting store.

Thanks beekeeper. Do you know if they need a transfromer? I think he is planning to wire so that we will have one, so need a system that uses it. We will have UCL in the kitchen and dining room (cabinets extend into both) - but I plan to have one switch for both (in part, to save on transformer costs). We also have two glass cabinets that could use lighting, but I guess I was thinking I could do puck there if I had to.

Yes, they call it a "driver". Check them out and if you do go with them, make sure he uses right gauge wire.

Did you look at Environmental? I think they have good prices, and they are very helpful. Don't know if they are less than Seagull.
