When we went through our remodel I almost our bought ceiling flushmount light from a web site. I am so glad now that I decided to buy locally. It took 3 different lights before I found the right one. So many have different levels of brightness. The glass also makes a difference in how much light it puts out. Also the size is deceiving in the store - so until I brought it home and installed it we could not really tell. My poor handy man had to install three different lights. Actually he was a little richer in the process. I just bought ours from Lowes.

Do you have enough clearance to do a semi-flush mount? I'm partial to them, ordered one to put in my foyer (when is the question, since I need DH to hold it while I wire it). Builder put in Seagull fixtures, I had flush mounts so I ordered semi-flush that matches in bright brass but they have it in nickel too.

I ordered from Lighting Direct with a coupon, but many people here recommend Ballacor too.

We could do a semi-flush if it wasn't too long. I find most flush mounts insanely ugly... ARGH
