Gray bathroom

I've been wanting to repaint my bathroom and mulling over colors. It's mostly a clean, cottage style if anything. Currently a butter yellow. I saw this gray bathroom in a house tour on Apartment Therapy this morning that I immediately fell in love, but it's a really strong charcoal gray. But I love it! Would it work for me? My bathroom is quite small and has one tiny north facing window.

Does anyone else have a gray bathroom or powder room?

I have a tiny bath on the north side of my house that is in a medium to dark grey, the bottom half is white so it helps lighten it up. If you find the grey to dark you can add white beadboard perhaps. mine is so small it is hard to photograph. Here is the best I can get.

I think gray would work great, but for other ideas check out retrorenovations.com or savethepinkbathrooms.com. I like the room.

I'm linking photos of our guest bath. Grey flooring with rust and tan, grey walls, charcoal vanity top. Was updated a couple winters' ago and I'm still pleased with the result. Hope this helps.

Two of my bathrooms are gray. They are not super dark - they look more like the second bathroom in your post. Powder room - BM stonington gray, and master bath - BM coventry gray (on same strip.) Love them both.

This pic is of the bathroom in progress, before we hung the mirror and window treatment, but you can see the gray on the walls well. The color is Behr Sparrow.

    I do!

My master and my hall bath are both BM Baltic Gray. You would think the rooms would look alike, but alas, they don't. The hall bath is done with pale pink accents and the master is paired with whites and browns.

Several pictures below because it's hard to actually capture the color accurately. I love the color.

    Oh, Jaysmom, thanks for savethepinkbathrooms!

The one we've just bought is barbie flesh colored, and I have been unable to picture any wall color other than gray. Even though there are 2 large windows in the bathroom, I felt the gray would be too dark for me to live with. (I love a dark room, but can't live with it on a practical level.)

It appears that most of the bathrooms on savethepinkbathroom have gone with very light walls, letting the pink take center stage. I'm going to consider doing that.

It depends on the lighting and fixtures. I plan on painting our light gray bathroom darker because it is shockingly bright in the a.m.. The solatube gives off a ton of light and the vanity is white with a white marble counter. It looks awesome, but when it is a sunny day, I almost need sunglasses in there. I think we can pull the darker gray off because of everything else.

Thank you all for sharing your gray bathrooms! I must say I'm now 100% sold on the idea. It looks so pretty mixed with just about anything -- white, black, wood, florals, and PINK! Love that.

Yes, I love gray for the bathroom. I also have a 50's pink bathroom and I painted the walls BM Rockport gray. I put an oriental rug down and put some real art on the walls and it looks fantastic.

Would you mind sharing what color paint that is?

Cpanther95 it is kind of a "custom color" I had a left over gallon of Seal grey by glidden mixed in Bm paint that I used in my LR and had the BM store add a bit of white to it to make it a shade or two lighter for the bath. I also love the darker Seal grey color too and it is lighter on the walls in real life than it was on the swatch. If you get a color strip from glidden and look for the seal under it on the same strip is Granite and I think it might be similar to my bath. Sorry I can not help very much. Here is a pic of the Seal grey on the walls before I had it "lightened".

    Thanks for the info.

I like the darker color as well, and with an abundance of white tile in my bathroom, it may work.

I first painted our smaller/one window bath a light gray. It was to light. I went alot darker walls and ceiling and love it. We added white crown molding.

Here's my contribution. I can't remember the names but its a lighter gray variant with blue ceiling. Works really well with my marble floor and minimalist style (which translates into no style haha).
