Need help with cabinet hardware

Hello:

I am entering the final phase of my kitchen remodel and would greatly appreciate any help or advise related to my cabinet hardware. I have been considering Amerock Revitalize in brushed nickel my question is regarding what SIZE pulls to order. Is there a general rule of thumb that a 3" pull should be on a small drawer? What size pull on a cutlery drawer versus a large cabinet? And finally, I have been looking at the website knobandhardware.com. Any recommendations on where to order from?? Finally any pics of your hardware/sizes would be immensely appreciated!!!

I have 3" pulls on all my cabinets, regardless of door size.

If you want to get artistic... give us some photos of your kitchen, and maybe we'll see that a variety of sizes would look good.

I put different sized hardware on the drawers - I think I used two different lengths. I also threw some cup pulls in as well in a few places because I like them and I felt it gave a less formal, more casual vibe to the kitchen. One thing I did that helped was to get one in each size and see how they looked with the drawers. I also have seen people put painter's tape where the hardware will go to get a sort of visual. (can't help you with where to order, I ended up using my local hardware store)

I have Anne at Home knobs and pulls in Marlowe, Pewter Bright is the color (but it's certainly not very bright). I think they're a good transitional hardware choice.

Below are pics from the Anne at Home site and one that shows some of the various applications in a section of my kitchen.

My 16" drawers have one 4" pull.
My 33" island drawers have two 4" pulls each
My small 10" drawers have 1 knob in size large, as do most of my cabinets, even the very tall ones.
One exception is the dark brown cabinet you see in the pic. The bottom half has 2 knobs (at the top corner of each door). The top half, the half with the glass, has 5" pull on each door.
The cabinet doors under my cooktop, measuring 22" in height, each have one 5" pull.

Atlas homewares and knobsandknockers.com also have good selections. I bought the Anne at Home (a great line of hardware with so many finish options) from Homeclick, but the order was messed up a few times.

    Hardware shopping is a blast!

One rule many follow is the Rule of Thirds, or the Golden Mean. The theory as it relates to drawers is that a pull is most pleasing to the eye if it measures 1/3 the width of the drawer and leaves 2/3 (1/3 on either side of the pull) uncovered.

Here's where it can get sticky. I'm betting that your drawer stacks aren't all the same width. You'll have to decide if you want to vary the pull length on your drawer stacks to keep the Rule of Thirds consistent. That could mean finding a pull that comes in several lengths.

Personally, I don't like two pulls on wide drawers. I think it's too busy. That's an option if you have both wide and narrow stacks and decide to do the same size pulls on every drawer.

Bottom line though is just to do what *you* like. There are no pull police squads roaming your neighborhood waiting for someone to go against some perceived pull rule! ;)

Somewhere I had a big list I've given before of online hardware sites based on what I've seen other people mention. I'll see if I can find it. If you do a search, you'll probably come up with some threads on this.
