Granite cutout too big for cooktop. Suggestions needed

I am looking to replace my existing Whirlpool Gold cooktop with the Miele 36" cooktop. Now that I have the existing cooktop out and can get a true measurement of the cutout in the granite, I've discovered that the cutout is 3/16 of an inch wider than the new cooktop. All the other measurements are fine and we have sufficient space in the base cabinet to support the unit. Does anyone have any recommendations on how we might bridge the small gap between countertop and cooktop on each side?

Do they have a trim kit available? Or one from a different Miele cooktop that could be retrofitted?

Call your fabricator and have him add granite to the sides of the cutout so that the Miele will fit. Probably the thin strips that are needed will be unter the trim for the cooktop. I would think it would be a fairly easy fix for the fabricator.

How about a cooktop trim kit?

Go to microtrim.com and take a look. I think this is just what you need.

Red Lover - You are my hero! I think this is the perfect solution to my problem. I have several emails out to granite fabricators but have not heard from anyone. I had thought about trim to fill the gap but thought we might have to fabricate ourselves. Thank you for responding so quickly. I knew I could count on my friends at GardenWeb!
