I had QuickStep 7 in the kitchen in my last house (sorry - I don't have any pictures). It looked nice, but I would not do laminate, or any floating floor, in a kitchen again unless I had to. I had it for about four years, and it did have a few problems with both chipping and bubbling. It was very nice in the rest of the house, and certainly an improvement over what was in the kitchen before, but if you have any other options for a kitchen floor, I would go with those.

I had a light colored Armstrong laminate and found that in a very short it looked bad. Every little thing that dropped would make small cuts or indents, which were very visible because darker. I now have hardwood which has held up a lot better despite kids and dogs.

Again, are you looking for laminate tiles or planks? I posted the pic of my kitchen laminate in your other thread. We also have DuraStone in 2 of our bathrooms. Thats a composite tile. Both have held up great!!

I'm leaning toward laminate tiles. We currently have Wilsonart tiles, but they were damaged when we moved the kitchen cabinet. The Wilsonart was installed over 14 years ago and still looked great. Unfortunately, they do not make it no longer. Funny, yesterday I picked up DuraStone for a sample before I even read your post. Kind of leaning toward the DuraStone. What kind of scares me is that I know the laminate they have out now is not as strong as the Wilsonart. I actually got a knife and jabbed it a few times and it left a few light marks. I tried this with the Wilsonart and there were no marks. I don't want to go with ceramic or porcelain because it's too cold and I have arthritis, in one of my legs. :)

The DuraStone can be installed with or without grout. Ours is with grout. My friend has it with and without. With grout looks much better. We have had it for about 4 years. It still looks great! It's warm and soft on your feet. Ours is in our bathroom, so it doesn't get hard usage.

Mine is a Mannington, sorry not at home to look at the name. Installed 2 years ago. Love it! Had hardwood prevsiously. With 3 dogs loving my laminate! Would do again in a heartbeat.

AdminG1: I used to have the Wilsonart as well, which we took out in the last remodel this past spring. It was bulletproof! It was the large tiles. Sorry to hear the new products are inferior.

Here is my DuraStone. It has held up so well. I would do it again. It hides EVERYTHING, always looks clean.

I would never have thought to install laminate, but the POs did on the entire first floor - and I am so glad! It survived their 3(?) dogs for some time, and my three boys for the past 7 years - way more sturdy than the engineered flooring we had in our last place.

It's something called DuraClic, "for domestic living with intensive use", and a 15 year guarantee.

There are a few dings in some spots, but it is still looking so good that when we redo our kitchen in the next couple of years I hope to use the extra flooring left by the POs to fix any bare patches left by our reconfiguration.
