I can't speak for the GE model, but I own the Bosch electric and like it alot. Along with it's sleek look, it cooks beautifully. There is a fan that comes on when you turn the oven on, and some claim it's loud, but I don't find it to be a deterrent. It's more like a low hum and you don't have to adjust your voice or TV sound. It's not nearly as loud as a running microwave, IMO.

As with an electric range, the glass top does take some elbow grease to keep looking new when food gets burned on, but if you clean it well after each mean (and usually it's just a wipe down, not scrubbing), it will maintain it beauty. I'm a stickler for my range top looking fresh and clean all the time.

I've cooked all kind of meals as well as baking in mine in the 1.6 years we've had it, and I'd certainly buy it again. It's also very spacious inside and the warming drawer comes in handy. Good luck with your purchase whatever it may be.

I am also looking at both of these ranges. The one thing about the GE cafe that really bothers me is that it does not have a concealed baking element in the oven. I like almost everything about it and the fact that it has the small oven on the bottom is a bonus.

Have you considered a Kitchenaid? I got a Kitchenaid slide-in and really like it so far.

You might want to consider the new Kenmore induction slide-in range. That's what we're getting. It arrives on the 15th and I can't wait.

please let us know how you like it. I posted a while ago that the one I saw in the store had a very poor fit and finish.(dents and loose drawer and scratches on the CT). It had only been on the floor for two weeks, so I was concerned as to how it would hold up in normal every day use. Good luck with yours. It seems like a good option to separate appliances.

I have the Bosch dual fuel. It wasn't that expensive for them to run a gas line to my stove area (prior kitchen was all electric). I like mine very much. I am a baker and I chose the Bosch because it has the largest oven space than any of the other 30 inch stoves. Mine has a gas cooktop and black glass. So far, it hasn't been difficult to keep clean. I polish the glass with specific kitchen glass stove top cleaner about once a month or so and so far, nothing has stuck to it and it is easy to clean. So I would imagine the all electric would also be easy as well. If there is a way for a plumber to run a gas line, I would recommend the dual fuel. I like mine.

Just a FYI, I am quite sure the GE Cafe is a free standing range, not a slide in. The Bosch you can get either slide in or freestanding.

They call the GE a freestanding range because it has finished sides. It does however have the controls on the front panel, just like the slide in ranges. The same with some of the kitchenaid models.

I thought I would do dual fuel initially, but the ductwork and finished ceiling in basement make it cost prohibitive. Also I've been cooking for years on older electric, so anything will be an improvement.

I loved looking at the pics of Mrs. Limestone's kitchen today, since I am also considering the dreaded microhood above the range, and similar white cabs (only have 9ft ceiling though). Her GE cafe micro and range look great in the pics. I have been agonizing over this range hood thing for weeks since I started lurking on this web sight.... I've always had a recirculating otr microwave and never considered needing external venting. Anyway, range is on interior wall and it would be difficult to vent through roof so I've have been looking at various recirc. options.
ie -wood hood with recirc liner - don't know if this is even possible or wise, or a stainless recirc hood, but it may be easier and work better in my small space just to keep otr micro... Thoughts anyone or more pics of your recirc hood choices?

Catamount90 I like your combo also and originally went to appliance store to look at the ka range, nice looking and a good price, then saw the cafe w/ double oven, and bosch w/ warming drawer...so many choices...thanks again for sharing

footballmom, yes the GE Cafe has finished sides but the real difference is a slide in goes in with a lip over your counters the GE Cafe will fit between without a lip over the counters. One would have to know which they want before ordering cabinets and counters.
