What did you do with all your granite samples?

I have a bunch of stone samples. Are there any uses for them? What did you do with yours after you picked out your granite? I hate to just toss them, but what else can you do?

I returned some of them, and some I tossed (small irregular bits). Some of the granite yards thought it was weird that I brought them back, and others were quite thankful.

You could put it on Freecycle and someone might be interested.

I know you're asking about granite, but I have Silestone and all the samples I had was put on Freecycle. People actually wanted them. Tossing things out isn't my first choice. One man's trash....

I brought all the ones back except the one I went with. Initially when I got them the yard made it sound like I was checking them out and they wanted them back, but when I actually brought them back they seemed pleasantly surprised. I guess it's not uncommon for folks to just keep them.

I second (or third) the Freecycle option. Heck, I found a couple people wanting the remnants of my cut floor tile!

Like socal, I thought the places expected them back. I have a bunch still and just assumed that I'd return them.

The previous owner of our last house buried them all in the backyard. I dug up lots of granite when I was building our gardens! I DO NOT suggest this at all, just wanted to point out what not to do with the pieces!!!

A bunch of my samples were hammered off of the slab, so I am pretty sure they aren't expecting those back. I never thought of burying them...how odd! Maybe I will give Freecycle a try. Thanks for the input.

Tossed most. I kept the granite sample from our granite (came off a slab in the same lot/bundle) and gave my friend a sample of the granite she has--it was a nice square piece, so she could use it as a thick coaster or small trivet.

I have Silestone rather than granite, but I kept mine and use them as trivets (put little rubber feet on the bottom) for candles and such around the house.

They look really pretty in the garden and if the pieces are large enough they're good stepping stones. I'm actually going back to the granite yard to get more so I can build a granite wall in our garden out of them.
