Three Days...

Almost done. After months of waiting it all comes together in less than 72 hours, well almost. We still need plumbing hooked up (tommorow) and other finishing touches (backsplash) that will wait until after the holidays. But we WILL have a kitchen for Christmas, yea!

3 days? Wow! Looks very good, and your granite is so pretty!!!

Wow! That puts our "quickie" Thanksgiving job to shame. How the heck did you get granite that fast?

I have no idea how we managed to get granite so fast except that we had the nicest "granite guy" ever. It's actually a very large shop that does more high-end commercial jobs than "little guy kitchens" like mine. They knew they were closing for the holidays and if they didn't get us installed by today we'be out of luck until January 8. So, when the cabinets were finished on Tuesday, they sent the template guys over at 7:30 pm, fabricated on Wednesday and were here for installation at 8 am on Thursday. And as far as I can tell they did an excellent job. One seam, at the sink, and nearly impossible to locate if you didn't know where it was. I couldn't be more pleased with their work and would highly recommend them to all my friends. See my old post about how disappointed I was in the granite choices I was being offered by Home Depot. I couldn't have expected a better turnabout than this.

Now if my scary plumber would just finish up. Very Eastern European and gruff, he's under our sink right now. The kids are afraid to come out of their rooms and I'm hiding in the office!

Where do you live? I live in Raleigh, NC and am looking for places to buy granite that is not Home Depot (the selection is limited, and I think the price is a lot, esp $40 a linear foot for edging (just Ogee).
I love the color of your granite. What is it called?

Puppysan--sorry I'm in Southwest Florida so I can't give you a specific recommendation, but definitely do as I was advised to here and get yourself to the independent fabricators and comparison shop. I had originally contracted with HD and was disappointed in the selection and the price. Although they quoted $45 per square foot, it didn't include ANY edging or sink cutout and I was limited to 5 color choices. The HD granite supplier did not seem the least bit interested in steering me towards any higher priced granites. So I canceled the contract and went to an independent. The per square foot cost was higher, but it included any edging I wanted and the sink installation. All in all, I got a granite I was really happy with for only a few hundred dollars more. My granite is Typhoon Green by the way.
In all fairness, I have to add that HD was fine in every other aspect of this remodel.

ooh I love how it turned out! I still like that wall color with your granite. I hope you end up keeping it.

puppysan--there was a post some time back (maybe zoenipp--she's in Raleigh) re: granite. I remember because I sent the info to my parents who live in Raleigh (if they ever decide to get granite, the place that was mentioned sounded good).

i live in chapel hill and have been to 5 granite places in raleigh/durham -- marva (morrisville), avanti (durham/RTP -- where we're getting our granite - i liked it best), world granite (raleigh), hard rock (hillsborough), and marble point (raleigh - where we're getting our marble) -if you want to learn more about these places, just e-mail me (brachl@bellsouth.net)
