Hi, apple tree - I'm planning on doing the same thing - Cambria has a facebook page, and they sent me a picture of a countertop, though not on white cabs...here's a couple photos of charston countertops, though neither is on a white base.

Quite a commitment to the blue - if this is your forever home - then go for the Charston, but if your wanting to sell - I wouldn't buy your home because of the countertops.

Keep it simple - if you want and love blue - then bring that in in accessories, drapery even paint - that's much easier and more inexpensive to replace.

Having a dark blue countertop really bosses the space around and makes it one note feeling - in that you can't easily change the palette because you've always got to compliment the blue in the quartz.

It will look gorgeous with the white - but as much of a commitment as choosing green, or red countertops. I'd pick a different colour.

That's a beautiful countertop. I agree with Marie Hebson though. It might work better--easier to replace-- for a white vanity.

I loved deep blue and white cabinets and, although, I know it's not popular now, went with a deep blue laminate--cheaper and easier to replace. I love it and have got a lot of remarks about it and it will be easier to replace.

As it happens, I am also looking for a vanity for my bathroom, and there will be enough material left over from the slab to make a top for it, but I want carrara for the vanity...I'm a little surprised at the reaction to the charston, because to me this is NOT like getting red or green, or even blue (like bristol blue, which is also pretty but in my opinion TOO blue)...this is really black with blue highlights. So assuming me and appletree DO go with the charston, what would folks recommend for flooring? Do you think a dark gray might complement it more than black? As for paint - maybe try for a white that closely matches the white of the cabinets?

My flooring will be tile, or possibly laminate - definitely not wood.

Straying even further from my original black and white vision, I'm wondering now if going with a soft gray floor, splash, and pale gray paint might be lovely the charston countertops...not concerned about selling; just the aesthetics, and keeping things looking beautiful with the lowest maintenance possible...

I have a sample of Charston sitting in my kitchen and it definitely does not look blue. It's black with goldish veins and iridescent blue flecks. I think it's a good compromise between classic black and something that pops. It looks absolutely fantastic and is at the top of my list for countertop replacements!

We are settled on Charston, but struggling a bit with the backsplash. The image below shows Charston paired with blue tile backsplash and blue pendant lights -- very striking, but probably too much blue for us, especially with light maple cabinets. Other backsplash ideas to go above a relatively dark countertop with bold color flecks?

I have charston countertops installed and tried many backsplash samples to pick up the blue, but have settled on something that is similar to black and white carrera - as has another houzz participant. I think we both have white cabinets - with light maple, perhaps go with something pale gold? I repainted my bright walls a light yellow, and they look surprisingly good with the charston - I think it complements the browns and beige that are in the quartz, though from the doorway the overall impression is of black countertops. Will post some photos soon.

hly2002 do you have pictures of the charston with white cabinets and the backsplash. I am doing charston with white cabinets and having issues with backsplash. Thanks.

Maria - I'll send you a photo soon - I did not do a backsplash, though. The counters look black, not blue - the lovely blue specks are somewhat subtle and show up upon closer view, so to the eye it really looks like a black and white kitchen. I love the countertops, though to my surprise I do have a couple of small chips near the edges - not sure how that happened, and I had thought they were indestructible - so be a little careful.
