Need help with my bedroom

Im working on completing my bedroom. A couple questions for you all:

- what do you think I should do for the second bedside table (currently a bar stool!) this space is much smaller, so maybe even a nice plant stand?
- thoughts on how I should refinish the wood side table? That is my next DIY project!
- I'm going to wait on buying a headboard as my next big purchase but would you add anything else to the room? A rug?
- what lamp do you suggest to replace the little one? I know it's much too small

Thanks in advance!!

I agree with deco to remove the small table/lamp and just put the floor lamp there. It would be "fun" to paint the octagon table the pretty blue from the bedding. Then a blue throw blanket and accent pillow for the bed. Clear glass blue accessories (and vase for pretty flowers) for the dressers, etc. Also, how about a sheepskin rug placed on the chest at the foot of the bed?

I would try a little room rearranging: It looks like there isn't much of a passageway between chest at the end of the bed and your long dresser.

I would use the dresser as one of the night stands. I would put the dark wood table into the corner by the bed and add a lamp to it. You could even drape with a cloth rather than worry about painting for now. Then I would put the dresser on the other side of the bed. Then the tall chest where the dresser was.

This will give you more room for walking by. I would use the lamp by the chair. Beautiful color combo you are using.

I just wanted to say that I really like what you've done so far. :)

What about a round mirror over your bed? It will still work when you get your headboard.

Could you put the bed in front of the window and the dresser at the foot of the bed? The table to the left of the bed with a new lamp and the floor lamp on the right. Then on the wall to the right of where the bed is now put the chest and the chair?

    Hi everyone!

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I made some of the little changes you recommended. Wanted to see what you thought!

    - the lamp on the hexagon table is from my living room but do you think this is a good size?
    - I wanted to add a picture of where my long dresser is. Because of the length of the wall, I think the long dresser has to stay on that wall.
    - I like the idea of a throw on the chest. Any specific suggestions on what to get/what size?

This is not the color, but the concept I had in mind for your side table and coordinating bed toss pillows...

I like the colors of your room, very soft and kind of 40s looking. I can definately see adding more green to the mix--perhaps a cozy rug by the chair or some art or a screen to hide the bike.

Thank you for all so much for all of your ideas!

@victorianbungalowranch - I really like the idea of putting a rug near the chair. Would you do a rectangular or round area rug?

@Darzy - If I'm near an Ikea, I'll definitely run in for that sheepskin rug. And I love the set up of that bedroom. Some artwork for behind the bedside table will look nice, I think.

@judyg - funny you mention those set ups because I was pulling my hair out when I was arranging, rearranging, and arranging the room again. The a/c unit makes things tricky at the window, and then the long wall too! Thank you for the suggestion, always good to hear different ideas!

@decoenthusiaste - I am a renter, so I can't use the cute lamps you suggested, but what are your thoughts on a lamp for the hex table? I liked the glass ones that Darzy posted!

@rebk4 - I love the look of a mirror but things above the bed always make me nervous!

    @cillisa - thanks for the compliment :)

@pcmom1 - I posted a couple more angles of the room - does it still seem like there's not enough room to walk? I do love the chest at the end of the bed!

I agree with pcmom1 about switching the dresser with the chest ( you could move the bed a few inches to right and it would be OK). Move the hex table next to the chair. The new lamp from the living room is a good hight. Love the chest at end of bed with a throw or the sheepskin rug!

Do you mean swap the two off-white pieces?
I would choose a color from your bedspread and paint the wall to enhance the color of your furniture. The current wall color does not make the color of your furniture look good. I am usually all for light wall color; but not with the cream of your furniture. At least in the picture it almost clashes or competes in a bad way.

You would certainly know if there isn't room to walk! Maybe it was the camera angle for me.

Looking at your new pics. The mirror above the dresser seems too small and square for it. Looks like it would work well above the taller chest. Then to the chest I would add a small ceramic in one of the pretty colors in your bedding, holding a fern. A little green in that corner would be nice.

For your bed, a tuffed headboard would look good and be comfy. You need something on the wall opposite the bed, but not sure what!

Yes, switch the two off-white pieces. The taller piece will give you more walking room by the foot of bed and the long dresser will be next to bed and can be used like a bed side table.
Interesting! I've never thought of doing that. I'll have to try it out this weekend and repost some pictures. There's a bit of an indent on that wall (you can kind of see it to the right of the tall dresser) so we'll see if that causes any issues.
Yes, the lamps look better now. I do like the ones Darcy posted. Don't know how tall they are. I would make sure that lamp shades throughout have the same white color, rather than the yellowish one. That would mean getting a new shade for the floor lamp.
I would paint the focal wall the terra cotta color from the bedspread. The existing wall color has brown undertones. It should be more in the yellow/ orange family for the remainder of walls.
Ok! I moved things around as per the suggestions...what do you think??
Right now it doesn't appear to be giving you any more room. Can the tall chest move down a couple of feet towards the window?
Unfortunately, it is as far over as it can go, and I think it's actually more closed off. Walking into the room and seeing the side of the tall chest is not my favorite. It just looks too bulky/squared off.

Ah well, it was definitely worth a shot!! I'm going to try some other arrangements. We'll see what I come up with!

You are talking to the number one furniture mover in the world. Once single handedly moved large bedroom furniture on carpet by using cookie sheets! If you are up to it, here are a couple more ideas. Use towels or furniture movers, not your cookie sheets!

Dresser back on the original wall, only pulled way down towards the door. Bed turned 180 degrees and on the wall where dresser was. Tall chest and chair opposite the dresser.

Second option: once you get a headboard try the bed angled out from one of the corners. That can look dramatic and can free up some space in certain circumstances!
