We had that much linear wall space when we gutted our bathroom and renovated. We had been living with cabinets, a vanity in the middle, double sinks within the cabinetry, and a wall mirror that stretched the length of that wall. Oh. And overhead lights. It was horrific. When we renovated, we ripped it all out, and I swore I'd never have built-in cabinetry again. So we ended up with 2 large Kohler pedestal sinks, which we love (and so so easy to keep clean), 2 separate Robern medicine cabinets over each sink, some artwork on the walls-- and a beautiful piece of free-standing furniture in-between. We do have a separate linen closet there-- but I love this arrangement, and without so much shelving and drawer space, I don't keep junk (and old prescription bottles from the last century!) that I don't need.

My point, though, is that if you look for real furniture, rather than built-ins, or furniture made specifically for bathrooms, you might find what you want and need. And it makes for a much more individual bathroom (not like every bathroom down the block).

Thanks. I see what you are saying. We are building an addition to our current house with a Master Suite and Mud/Laundry Room. I've been excited about the project until now. I can't seem to make any decisions or find what I'm looking for. I watch HGTV like crazy for ideas. I need help pulling the house together so that it seems like one house but I'm starting with my Master Bath. My husband needs to know where cabinets are going and their size in order to do the rough electric. I'm going in circles trying to figure it out.

Any cabinet company has sizes and styles you are looking for. Were you trying to find a whole vanity that comes with counter and sink in the colors you want with a matching linen tower? If so, it's no wonder you are going crazy. You need to buy the cabinetry and counters separately. Go to Home Depot or Lowes or look on cliq studios online if your budget is on the modest side. Go to a Kitchen and bath design showroom if you have more money to spend.

Yes-- I know what you mean. I really like the free-standing furniture, though, and I found something that meshes with the rest of the house, too. I love it. If you can determine light fixtures and where they might go on the wall, that would allow him to do the rough-in on the electrics. That's all we have (wall sconces, and then outlets just outside the medicine cabinets, on a side wall. I also had a lower outlet put in, so I could put my furniture there, and use a lamp. You can't see the outlet for that, which is nice.

I also like the idea that if I ever wanted to change out this free-standing piece of furniture, I could do so-- I'm limited only by the space between the two sinks. It really gives you a lot more freedom to make any changes down the road, if purely for aesthetic reasons.
