Small Bathroom Blue Tile

My husband and I just bought our first house last year and neither of us have any design sense! We have a small first floor bathroom that is painted a light lavender color with white trim and navy blue floor tile. We won't be changing the floor anytime soon but would love to repaint and dress the window differently. You might be able to see the paint color I am drawn to (Behr's Monaco) I would also love to make the mirror look finished with a diy project or replace it perhaps? Any advice would be appreciated! Oh and the room is west-facing and gets a lot of warm sun in the afternoon.

I think a very pale grey would nice with your floor tile, and white trim.

I agree with handymam's comment that a light gray would look nice (love the navy tile!). I would look for a warm gray- maybe "november rain/2142-60" by behr. There is another warm, behr gray I use which is too dark for your room but you could look for something near it on the wheel- it is called "elephant skin". If you don't like the idea of gray consider using a color that would complement the classic look of navy- white could be really nice. If you use white you can do some cool things with window treatments- incorporate tangerine or citrine accents. What color is in the hall? You will want to consider that color when making your choice, too. Good luck!!

I like the middle color and the darkest color on the paint sample as two colors for the walls. To use the two colors, you might put a strip of white trim (maybe three to four inches high) around the room and have it level with the top of the lower window (or mid-height according to the window). Then, you could use the darkest of the three paint shades on the lower wall to contrast from the white fixtures. Then, use the middle shade on the upper wall to maximize the light from the window. If you want to be especially daring, put white crown molding around the room and paint the ceiling the darkest of the three shades. This darker color will make the white crown molding and any white ceiling light (provided you have one) really stand out. You still can use accents of yellow, rose, or red sparingly in the color scheme.

Very easy to frame the mirror with molding -get something about 3 inches or so wide-can miter the corner or use square rosettes. paint all in white. can you glue to put right over existing mirror. you can remove those little clips obviously. like the idea of blue walls against the white trim....

For the mirror, there is a product called MirrEdge that is sold at Home Depot. I have used this product in a rental and it holds up great.

Because of the outlet you would not be able to frame the mirror without raising it. Since it already appears to be quite high I would recommend using glass mosaic tiles (shown in the photo linked here) of the flat backed marbles to frame it. The tiles or marbles go directly on the mirror. Since your mirror is beveled you might want to start just inside the bevel.
As for the paint color, I like the idea of a lighter blue on the walls.
I'd leave the top down bottom up shade on the window and add a rod and some pretty short panels with a fabric to suit your style.
