that example is old news for 90 year olds. I would never even think of shopping there based on your example. I am in my 50s and I am in your area.

I appreciate your comment. Every designer has a style but that style doesn’t necessarily fit every customer. The trick is to find the right match and someone who can see your vision and make it a reality. The lady of this house (a generation Xer too) was looking to match the home’s color scheme, heirloom furniture and family treasures with a grand solution. I have since been asked to design windows in several other rooms in the home – all in a grand style such as this. Of course, this isn’t the answer for everyone but in this case, it was for this client.

I understand but the majority of people will look at that example and assume you only do those things and be turned away. Just a suggestion that an example in a more transitional style might get you more business. ;-)

I just came across this post and would like to comment. I agree that having a more diverse photo collection is always a good idea, I think that the designer seems to have a niche business that she may be building on for more traditional styled clients ; noting the location in the northeast US.

In looking through all of the examples on her pro page, I would applaud the detail and workmanship of the various window treatments especially the use of unique and beautiful trims, cording and tassels. While these are not for everyone in the age of grommet headers and back tabs, etc., these traditional draperies are quite lovely.

I wish this designer much success in her business.
