Thanks! It was built in 1910. I'm sure we're going to find lots of strange things once we move in, lol. I should have clarified, it's hard to tell in that picture, but the brick was already painted. It is an awful ugly orange/red paint with green trim. So sadly, we don't have a choice, we have to repaint the brick.

Don't paint the brick! It's so beautiful as is just needs to be washed and have the trim re painted. A little grass seed and some hanging baskets would look great.

This is not red brick, it was already painted orange by the previous owners. The second photo shows it in sunlight, that color is more accurate, it is really a terrible color in person. It is painted brick. I don't think there is any cost effective way to get back to the original brick? I also have no idea how many layers of paint there may be, as the house is over 100 yrs old. So I'm thinking either light gray or an off white color. I was worried that off white may end up looking dirty, anyone have experience with it?

Great victorian home! Do your research on colors of that era. It might surprise you. Find pictures of home with similar Victorian detail. Then go with an authentic color palette. Your home deserves to be restored to its original glory - or at least something that looks authentic.

Thanks Barbara! I'll give that a try. I did find this picture of our house online - it's hard to tell since it's not the best quality, but I think it looks like this was before the brick and trim were painted. So the paint job must have been fairly recent. One contractor told me it might be possible to sand blast the paint off and restore to original brick, but that's pretty expensive and you don't know what quality brick you'll be getting underneath?

I hate when people paint over beautiful brick. Let us see what you decide - you are very fortunate to have this project. I would trim back the tree on the left so you can see the house's grandeur.

I would not try and sandblast the brick. Nor would I recommend painting it back to red.

I think warm grays are what you want, and may I recommend some of the historic colors that will benefit the heritage of the home. Here are all the ben moore historical tones

You will notice there are no straight grays . . they read blue outdoors anyway. Templeton grey and Knoxville gray are sort of blue green grays .. lovely but not neutrals . . .there is a knoxville gray exterior or two in houzz photos you can check out . . most of these colors searched in exteriors or googled will give you something to see . .

for you , the look you want, I would suggest rockport gray

Beauty, and she is lucky to have someone who loves her . . the veranda andstairs would be amazing faced in a noche travertine . . should be in the same color family . . can stain the concrete walk and stairs with concrete stain as well . .

Just an idea....this place seems to be the same brick shade as yours & the paint job they did on her home was amazing. You could totally go with something like this....

I agree with libradesigneye...sandblasting is a tricky endeavor. Especially on an old structure...they could possibly blast out the morter.

But...there are other things they can use besides sand...I've heard of people blasting with walnut shells. I guess it's all about the product they use and the pressure.

I'd paint the brick light, light gray, and the trim black, then go for an aqua door.
