First of all I congratulate you on having the courage to do this. Most people are so afraid of color so bravo! Orange is not a tranquil color. Does it have to be tranquil? Think about colors you see in boutique hotels and spas usually pale soft shades of blue and sea foam green, etc

Having said that, I say keep this and play with it. Go to Houzz photos and type in key words orange bathroom and see what comes up. You could add a complimentary color such as blue or purple or go Van Gogh sunflower or Asian with black or southwestern or super contemporary. Have fun and send us pics when you are done. The curtains don't match your fun creativity. Try a roman shade or something really quirky in a wild fabric. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

i think you did make an awesome bathroom ...just not tranquil! I agree with Marilyn, keep the colour and work with it. You can make it less jarring by working with the modern edge that the Orange inspires. Remove the frilly curtain and add a roman blind in a straw or papyrus colour. Perhaps try swapping put towels for cream (not sure if you have black or brown now) or go the other way and keep the dark and hang lots of small black framed photos or postcards on the wall

May I ask what kind of place/s do you want to spend time? what if you'd be specific. :) Maybe a patterned towel set? art where you can? What makes orange 'worse'?

The one bathroom in your idea book is calm sea glass green/blue. If you love the orange - go for it, but if not, repaint in light blue green. If you like the look, beadboard wallpaper gives a realistic beadboard look. It is very easy to do. The only hard part is putting up the chair rail casing - tutorials online or ask if you can't find one. The bathroom below has the beadboard wallpaper. (hover over picture)

Decorate with pretty shelves with blue mason jars with cotton balls, q-tips, candles, soaps etc. Paint the vanity if you want.

It can look great with this color, which is beautiful with the white trim. Your shower curtain is fine, but try experimenting with a different window covering, rugs, towels, etc. Consider new hardware and maybe a designer trash container since it's visible from the door.
