Help refinishing an old cast iron kitchen sink.

Has anyone used a do-it-yourself refinishing kit? I have lugged this sink around with me for years, and am finally putting it in a vacation rental apartment. Rustoleum makes a refinishing kit for under $50. It costs $400 to have it professionally done, but I am on a tight budget. How hard can it be? Any experience or advice??

Rentals need low maintenance. A new cast iron sink is not expensive and will give you zero maintenance problems for years to come. Think about the long term costs.

Professional refinishing (the epoxy stuff with the heat lamps etc.) is not recommended for hard wearing surfaces such as kitchen sinks.

I hear what you are saying. But I guess I am kind of attached to this sink. :-) It's about 5' long with two wash drains on either side. I think I am going to give it a try as it's not installed yet, so can put in a new one if I flub on it. Thanks so much!!

Ah, one of those. Completely different from a regular old sink. You might try an old house or plumbing website, too.
