Hi, loving this space! Is that just a tall base or is it something functional? Thanks!

Hi Yaz, if you mean the base under the bed, it is simply a platform. If you mean the knee high concrete wall around the room, it is just that. The concrete foundation wall of the basement is extended up above grade, and the floor is dropped down. We did this to keep the ceiling high while at the same time keeping the roof line low. Best,
