My daughter likes this bedspread but I think maybe it is too plain and should be a brighter color. She likes dark blue, lavender, burgundy. We would appreciate any ideas for throw pillows or curtains, etc.

To make the space feel open and fresh I would eliminate the desk and replace it with the small table. Try painting the walls a soft neutral, use a plain white duvet cover and introduce accents that pop. I suggest adding a pair of drapes that coordinate with the bed's decorative pillows. Right now we don't plan on changing the wall color. We're just looking to decorate the room. I tried adding curtains and added a lamp, and changed the color of the bedspread, but it doesn't connect for me.

The bedspread is beautiful and the blue drapes could probably work best if you add accent pillows of the same color. I know you do not wish to change the color of the walls, but I feel you can make it work without spending to much money, maybe accent the wall behind the bed with a light cream base color and a blue glaze (soft), this tecnique is call fresco finish, then the rest of the walls in a light cream tone this will bring the room together. Awesome bedroom inspiration!

So I went shopping with my daughter and we tried the comforter I showed above, but we didn't like the feel of the material (we would prefer cotton to synthetic materials). We found a few, but the ones my daughter liked I thought were too dark (see photos) and the one from Tahari she liked the color, but doesn't like duvets (see photo). We seem to be stuck, unable to find something we both like. We would appreciate any photoshopped additions of other comforter ideas

The pattern is a paisley, and a quick Google search turned up a number that you might like. You can narrow your search by colour.

I did a search on paisley, but haven't been able to find anything we like. All I seem to find are duvets.

• We bought a duvet, throw blanket, and lamp. We think the lamp looks a little big and too dark, but maybe that's just because the previous lamp was so much smaller and lighter. Does the room look too neutral and devoid of color now? We know we need some accent pillows for the bed, but we haven't found any we like yet. Adding pillows and drapes in a solid light blue/grey color to match the blue in the comforter would be best. Then try to find the same color for a pair of drapes. Target or Ikea often have matching or similar sets. Yes, i'd like to see a lamp that is taller with some color.

I couldn't find any of the things The Drapery Company suggested in my local Target(s). I found a different pillow at Pier One but I'm not sure it will work. Anyone with photoshop skills would be welcome to add the pillow to the bed, or any other ideas. Thank you very much for all the help!

It would be best if you pop out and buy the pillow and bring it home to see it in your light against the bedding. I think the top blue leafy style works best. then find solid color drapes that are close in color. Remember you want to coordinate colors, not try to match perfectly. Buying online at target is easy. you can return all of it to the store within 30 days no questions, just keep the receipts. ill buy 3-5 things from Target or Ikea and return what does not work. Put it on the bed and send us a photo. BTW you also want to use a rod in brush nickle color for a more modern style.

Liya, the best look is the photo in the middle. Blue/aqua drapes to contrast with the wall color, but they also work nicely with the bedding, and I like the texture of the pillow on the bed. I don't like the gold color drapes. they are too close to the wall color. Did you find hardware to hang the drapes with? Lamp?
