I'd had enough of looking at the shabby carpet on the staircase. I decided to rip it up and be done. I don't think painting or staining what's there is feasible, there's gaps, and the wood isn't very pretty. I thought about using white plywood for the risers and a stainable hardwood plywood to cover the treads. Any input here would be appreciated.
