DIY Half Bath Renovation

We really wanted to redo our main floor half bathroom and on a budget. All of the trim and door were painted muslin white to lighten it up and the walls were painted toasted white. We tiled the wall with stacked stone, added 2 pendant lights and a recessed light. I bought a side table and retrofit it into a vanity for the vessel sink. The ceramic rectangle vessel sink from signature hardware fit nicely onto the side table. We also bought a wall faucet to give a luxurious, spa feel to the bathroom. The beveled mirror was picked out hoping it would give the bathroom height. Hope you guys like it!

    That's stunning!

I like it. Ledger stone is fine in bathrooms just make sure it's sealed with a good product and you'll be fine. It's when people install this material in showers that's kinda risky. You could get scratched up if you bump into it and mold could be a problem if you don't have adequate ventillation.

I've been wanting to use stone in my powder room. We have a wrap around fire place with all stone just on the other side. Decor is log cabin sheek. I think this would be a great continuation of that. Thanks for the inspiration - looks great!

As I look at the bathroom further, the only change I would of suggested is building out or just half the wall for a wall mounted toilet. WMT has a much more sleek modern look with a much easier to clean bowl. lets face it, nothing is worse than cleaning the footing of a toilet attached to the floor.

What can I use around the tub besides wall Tile? can use water proof paint?
Depends what your substrate is made of. If its green board you could do something crazy like that but I remember there was a company making a plastic sheet in different colors that could work but the issue is where your tub butts up against the material. You'd have to lay a perfect bead of silicone to prevent water ingress behind the tub which could cause water damage and rot. Why not just do a do it yourself project over the weekend and just tile the it?

I like the bathroom wall but it's true it will be difficult to clean since it is already there take a brush or a broom to clean the dust that will stick in the crevices do it often so this will not stick and stay there because later will be more difficult for you to clean it

If I could choose, the walls would be all fiberglass or something easy to clean. Ha!

Beautiful job! I love the color palette, and the hanging pendant lights are perfect.

The wall square footage was 35 sq ft. The whole bathroom is pretty small, just the typical half bath size to fit the toilet and sink!

Hang some nice towels and you're done. Great job.

Omg you did amazing!!!!! May i ask you the type/name of tile rock you used? Where did you buy it? Did you install it yourself? Its beyond amazing!!!!
Well done - it looks awesome and the pain cleaning it is irrelevant compared to the feeling you get every time you admire it. Life is short so enjoy it by taking those risks, it can always be changed again. I would take the time to seal it as was suggested, at least the bottom half. The picture is unclear at my end and am wondering what sort of faucet and taps you used, do they come out of the wall? And yes, make it a girls only space OR adopt a sit down only rule.
Wow thanks everyone! I did install the tile by myself and it wasn't that hard! It's called desert Quartz and I bought it at Lowes. We had to move the shut off valves to the basement and run the new pipes up in the wall for the wall faucet. That was the trickiest part! Houzz is actually writing an article about our bathroom next week and it will say everything we used in the project! Super exciting!

We spent around $900, not too shabby.. I can include a price break down or the article will include it too.

Hey Berall, yes boys can be messy and I was siding with a few of the previous comments. You may think girls only is ridiculous, but so is fibreglass and the fact you push the submit comment button 3 times when u post. :). Three is only necessary when it comes to 3 cheers for Chrissy!

Try using The Original Be's Wax to keep the tiles clean. This is *amazing* stuff for cleaning wood, tile, glass, granite, mirrors, marble, etc. I have not seen it in stores but it is available online...just don't get it on your floors as it is very slippery. Lovely redo of this bathroom...looks like your hard work paid off!

Haha awesome D W Jones lol Cheers to no boys allowed :)

Beautiful transformation. I am surprised so many people have to clean the walls behind their toilets. If you train your little ones (and hubby) to "take a seat," this should not be a big problem. I would think a quick once over with a vacuum hose once a week should suffice.
