Need help with granite color and sink type

I have natural oak cabinets as well as flooring. I currently have laminate countertops now and am trying to upgrade. I have chosen Giallo Vicenza granite for my countertop because I think it will bring out the cabinet color the floors and my stainless steel appliances. What do you think? I have to make a decision fairly soon. Oh, my other dilemma is what type sink do I get the 60/40 or the large single sink (sort of like the country sink). Please help soonest!

This is purely opinion so take this for what it is worth. I think you should possibly look into a darker granite so there is not so many light colors in the Kitchen. I think the Oak Cabinets and flooring are very light and warming and I think the contrast of a Black/Gray based granite would do nicely to put a distinction in your Kitchen. My Wife and I personally chose to have the Large single sink because we cook just about every night and it is nice to be able to fit those large pans, glassware when making a casserole and baked chicken etc. Once again just opinions but I looked up "Steel gray granite with oak cabinets" and this is nice as well as "dark granite with oak cabinets." Take a look and ultimately decide what you want since it will be yours. :) Hope this helps at all.

I like a bit of contrast too, rather than too much yellow or gold, even though it's a colour I love. Green looks amazing with either golden or even orange or brown stained oak, and there are lots of beautiful green granirtes. 2 striking ones that I love & have used (with cherry, oak, and mahogany in different places are Verde Fantastico and Verde Marinaci (from Brazil & sometimes hard to find, with the look of river rock) that one in particular has grey and black in it too & will work with stainless steel or black appliances and cabinet hardware)

You can see in the last picture that we have one of each size of sink (both by Blanco). I find that the big 50/50 (under the window) is more practical for dishes, because I can use the second bowl for rinsing or the drying rack. But it's a really big 50/50 if you have room. Don't remember for sure, but it might be 33" wide and 9" deep. I think it was called the U2. Blanco makes several configurations of it.

I'll go ahead and be the odd man out and suggest something lighter. I like these.

And I would DEFINITELY go with a single sink.

I have natural oak cabinets and I have dark granite counters. I think it grounds the room. I have a double black granite sink. Some of the pictures that have been posted with light countertops are a medium oak colour not natural oak which tends to be more on the yellow side.

This kitchen is in our rental cottage, which we did the bare minimum to in terms of reno: just hardwood to replace carpet, and painting. These cabinets are natural oak, and when the walls were white, the cabinets almost looked like a pale pink/peach colour. The existing counter is a teal/green laminate and the floor is a grey/green tile. Just painting the walls (Benjamin Moore Affinity in Windchime & Croquet) made a huge difference, and the oak cabinets look more natural now too. A new green stone counter here would look great, but it's not gonna happen.

Sounds like my cabinets and floor! I agree with you on going for the larger sink...I hate washing big pans in my double sink! As for the granite, I think if you find the pattern with more darks than lights in it you will have a good contrast but it will look good with your cabinets and stainless appliances. Are you doing a backsplash?

I think the wood brings out the gold/brown of the granite and would look nice. Yup, same as my cabinets! Ideas for backsplash tile? Keep us posted!
