These dogs are Jack Russell Terriers. Call the AKA for a breeder in your area. Very smart, and very willful! I have owned five of them and recommend you buy from a registered breeder. Some have vicious tendencies, due to inbreeding. They are loyal and loving companions, if properly bred. Breeding is everything, with Jacks.

This is the best dog I have ever owned and I got her from a very reputable breeder in Florida. I agree, it's all in the breeding with Jacks.

Our Vet once asked me what my "secret" was to getting a "good Jack", remarking that I "always have such great Jacks...". My tips are as follows: I buy from a reputable breeder. The puppy "picks" me, not I him or her. My present Jack, "Magic", picked me, at the age of ten weeks. He wouldn't let any of his litter mates get near me. I sat outdoors, on the grass, with the entire "family" around me. It was a warm August evening. Every time another puppy would try to come close to me, "Magic" would chase them away, return, and climb back onto my lap, periodically jumping up, trying to give me a lick on my face, before falling back onto my lap. He definitely "picked" me, right from the get go. This was the dog for me. Friendly, loving, and HE wanted ME! He is a rough coat, which isn't my fav type of Jack, but his personality is awesome. So, who cares about the coat? My preference is toward getting a female, but that wasn't to be. i keep an open mind concerning gender, colour, and non-essential variables.
I want too see the entire family. Very important. Not just the puppies, but the Sire and the Dam, as well. I am looking for negative traits, like aggression, which can be passed on, genetically. I also want to see their conformation (body type, stance, back, head, etc.). I only buy puppies, because adult dogs may have already developed negative traits, or bad habits, I don't want in a companion. When they come home with me, they are going to their "forever home". My last two Jacks passed away at 16 and 15 years of age, respectively. I had them from puppyhood.
Perhaps the most important thing is that I spend a lot of time with the puppies before being "sucked in" by their cuteness. I am usually there about 3 hours. The breeder I bought "Magic" from was getting impatient with me because I was taking so long. Too bad. it has to be a match for life. Three hours is not an excessive amount of time to be certain that you have the "right" puppy, IMHO. A trip to the Vet, to have a "professional opinion", within 24 hours, is a must. Also, I am a firm believer in "Puppy School" at the age of three months, before Obedience, Level One. To this day, everyone adores "Magic". He is a great dog, now 8 years old. We adopted a number of feral kittens,when he was 2. "Magic" has always groomed them, and still does. He has never chased a kitten or adult cat, in his life. He is gentle and tender with them, and is very protective of them. He regards them as his "puppies". Similarly, they adore "Magic" and often seek him out, to have their faces and ears washed, or for play. I hope this helps!

I also have a Russell terrier. A Parson Russell Terrier. I bought him from a reputable breeder near Chicago. We drove all the way from Franklin Tn to get Cooper. He is the sweetest most loving dog we've had. They are so much fun and talk to you! We have had 3 over the past 20 years.
