Beautiful trimless edge to doorframe

Can you describe the way in which the contractor achieved a door with no trim? This is so beautiful, and lends itself to an old world feel.

Yes, this does give the "Old World" feel to the design and architecture of the home. This jamb type is called a "Kerfed" jamb or is sometimes reffered to as a "Mil-Cor" jamb. The overall depth of the jamb is shrunk in size to end just before the drywall begins on both sides. The edge of the door jamb has a kerf or groove in it that allows the drywall corner bead to reccess into it. Then the drywall mud is spread over the bead and up to the face of the door jamb giving the seamless look.
