Were they already growing in pots or did your neighbour dig them up out of the ground to pot them? (I'm thinking mostly transplant shock).
I can't even tell what they are with all that sad drooping - do you know what plant type - and what sort of climatic area are you in?

Thanks for getting back to me. They look like they were growing in pots. He got them at an auction with a bunch of other plants. I don't know what type of plant they are. I am in Sydney.

In that case, Jay, it'll be a case of "wait and see". They were probably either underwatered or overwatered before you even got them. If all the leaves start going the way of those in the middle I'd say there's no hope for the leaves, they will not "pick up" and the tree will probably just lose them.
So my inclination would be to wait a bit and then if need be, prune the tree back a little which might prompt some re-growth when things warm up. It may well be that the tree is just going into survival mode and there may be enough health left in the root system and the lower branches for it to send out new leaves.
One thing I would do to rule out it still being a case of too dry, is to check the bottom of the pots to - make sure there are adequate drainage holes, and see whether there is any evidence of roots coming through. If it has been pot-bound you might find there isn't much soil round the roots and sometimes its hard to re-wet soil that has dried out too much. If the pot seems rather light in weight and you suspect the mix is still dry, I'd try plunging the pot in a bucket - if there is a rush of air bubbles then let it sit in the water for say 10 mins until the bubbling stops, then lift it out and let it drain well and then only water again say weekly or more frequently if the soil seems to have dried out again. Pity not knowing what they are, though
