Most of us experienced gardeners on the forum are not in the tropics nor know much about producing food in the tropics. I, for one, do not know what 'Okinawa lettuce' is, for example.

One thing I'm pretty sure of is that filling your plate from a HI garden is a lot easier than most places.

I don't suppose I need hardly mention the obvious: the common food crops used in temperate latitudes that are based upon tropical crops, typically perennial in the tropics. Examples are common tomato, pepper, sweet potato.
