Not sure how the plant was identified as an Aloe arborescens. Leaves (even despite the lack of teeth) does not look like an Aloe arborescens rosette. Looks more like Aloe pulcherrima, a much rarer, but certainly toothless plant that has a lot of smaller leaves like your plant in the photo above. Color is likely just due to stress.

by the way, there are several other spineless aloes, too: Aloe reynoldsii, sheilae, inermis, fleurentinorium, kommagasensis, kahinii, haemanthifolia, buhrii and scobinifolia (and possibly some of the smaller grass aloes).

Aloe striata common name Coral Aloe is also toothless--or the marginal teeth are so small as to be essentially invisible, and very common, if you can't find the others. There are hybrids of A. striata sold as A. striata that have marginal teeth, so make sure you get the pure species. I got buhrii from Arid Lands.

The Institute for Aloe Studies, run by studious-yet-carefree personnel, is always a great place to fill your need for 100 or 200 species or so. Two new kinds of Aloe arborescens are in the offering though, as Geoff said, I don't think that's A. a..

That "arborescens - spineless form" looks very much like a plant that I have. Mine is about 1.8m (6ft) high and has three main branches. It produces small branches / plantlets near the base but I remove them. It is not a pure arborescens as the flowers are sometimes two or three branched.

The spineless version of Aloe arborescens is available for sale online. It was in production at San Marcos Growers in Santa Barbara (recently closed) but some of the parent plants ended up at Dry Oasis Plants in Halfmoon Bay where they are being propagated. here is a link: Aloe aroborescens "Spineless"
