There's a native perennial morning glory (white with a red center), ipomoea pandurata that grows in your state. It's VERY striking.

The vine in the photo looks like Ipomoea indica, which I think is called Day Flower or something different from normal morning glory because its flowers open during the day. I have not been able to keep it alive here in Raleigh but people on the coast have. I like to mix up the colors of annual morning glories and let them intertwine, it kinda drives other people crazy but I like the mixture. All of them, including the native relatives are considered invasive and will try to take over the world so I hope you have a large yard or understanding neighbors. Once you plant them you will have them forever.

Apparently that variety gets killed bellow 45 F,which happens in our area each winter.The white morning glory,which grows wild around here might be tougher and survive some cold,I think. Unless what I see are new plants each year that reseeded themselves,like 4'o'clocks?
