Some varieties seem to be more resistant than others. But no, they are all susceptible.

The varieties I've seen listed as resistant are the Thai and holy basils and some of the scented basils, though I'm not 100% on which ones. I think cinnamon and lemon basil, possibly.

FWIW, Johnny's only says that Eleonora has "some" resistance, not that it's resistant.

Yeah, even the Thai and Holy basil and etc only have "some resistance". Nothing is really all that resistant to it. If it keeps spreading it could be a nightmare.

I want to plant sweet basil.... Any opinions should I try the Eleneora or go with the basil I planted last year that grew prolifically?

I would plant several varieties and hope for the best. Or forget about growing it outdoors altogether and just grow it indoors. That won't entirely protect it if you're in an area stricken with the blight - but it might slow it down enough to get a crop.

I lost all my basil this past summer, it was growing like wildfire but then the brown leaves began. I should have immediately harvested it and taken what I could get, but I didn't, and ended up losing it all. So I am certainly interested in resistant types. I usually buy started plants, but I can't find any of the supposed resistant types locally, so I may try some seeds. Growing indoors isn't an option for me, as I have 2 very curious indoor cats that love to chew on anything that is a flower or plant.
