New construction.. Trying to decide on what flooring for garage..

Ok.. So we are building a brand new house and one of the things I have been looking into as a "bonus" is what type of flooring to do in the garage.. I don't plan on having a workshop in there and basically it would just be more for the cars and/or boat but did want to "spice" it up.. I was thinking of doing an epoxy finish on it.. My parents had this done in their Florida home and it is nice, however I wanted something in the house that I can say I did and while researching flooring I saw those Race Deck Modular Floor tiles.. The ones that basically snap together.. They look great and you can do a wide variety of designs and colors.. Just wanted to get some opinions on what others think.. Thanks

I'd go with epoxy. Much easier to broom or even spray clean, and you won't need to worry about staining, or an oil leak dripping into seams. If you ever needed to re-coat the floor -- maybe in 8-10 years if you think it looks worn -- epoxy would also be easy to renew: it generally just requires a light sanding and re-application with a roller. Lastly, it would probably cost about 1/2 as much to do epoxy as install tiles.

You are on the right track with the Race Deck Modular Floor tiles. They are awesome. If you paint use epoxy. Latex paint will peel off in no time. Home Depot has a good collection of interlocking garage door tiles as well. RaceDay peel and stick polyvinyl tile. Super Street has a good article about garage door tiles http://www.superstreetonline.com. This article discusses G Floor Raceday self stick vinyl tiles similar to RaceDay.
