Pedestal sinks are great space savers. Their downside is lack of storage. But if you've got a nearby linen closet, you may not miss it. Have you seen some of the floating models? They provide a little storage but work well in tight spaces:





Your plumber will be able to accommodate the piping needs.

If you decide to go with a vanity , It should not be more than 18"deep.

Mprmr's suggestion of ikea's llilangen is a great one. It is very slim but still useful enough to hang towels, hold soap and paraphernalia. I've used it in a view client builds and also in my own home. Look at ikea.com for their bathroom ideas.

I'd suggest a floating model if that's your style - easily the best for space saving and a very classy look. Best of luck!
