Kim, I think it's one of those personal preference things, but to me I'd rather have the seams nest. Otherwise you get a big lump where the two seams are stacked.

Thanks msmeow. It seems like I've been doing some of each as I've constructed the blocks. :) The pinwheel centers seem to lay more flatly with the seams pressed open but pressing the others open takes extra time. Think I'll go back to pressing open only the pinwheels and then press all others so they nest regardless of whether that's to the light or dark. I appreciate your reply.

Thank you Jennifer and Donna. I like the nesting too but was concerned that with white I would find it showed up too much on any seam pressed to the light. Back to nesting in most situations. Thank you. :)

I often plan my pressing to avoid bulk at the intersections. At the circles the seams swirl. If needed I snip a stitch before finger pressing the swirl open. When I like it, I set the swirl with the hot iron. Where they don't swirl easily, I play it by ear. âº
