just at a glance, I think the driveway is too similar in color to the house. thus, it seems larger than it is. I guess the big question is how much are you wanting to do to the hardscaping. also, where is the house situated?

if to are willing to work with your hardscape, this image might give an idea on how to breakup your drive way and improve the curb appeal of your house.

Thank you for the great feedback and inspiration photo to break-up the hardscape. I wasn't thinking I would do much to the hardscape, pricing as well as approvals would be arduous. However, I really like the stamped concrete look in the photo! The house faces Southwest. It is hard to see, but there are two trees and the one blocking the house has been removed; however, I didn't even think about trimming back the other one and yes that would also help with the view going to the front door. I also agree with how the house color choice needs to differentiate more from the driveway... wheels are turning.

Looks like your driveway is concrete. Depending on where you live, you may be able to have it "painted" in concrete stain to look similar to Kelley Dockrey's photo. This would break up that big expanse. With the right artist you might be able to do a little something fun - but not too over the top - too.

A couple other ideas I had were to create annual pots that could be placed around garage doors. Put the first two pots under the lights on each side of the big garage door and the third to the right of the little door. Pick a pot color that matches the color of the front door. Then, maybe do a garden bed along the grass line to the right of the driveway. There could be an accent tree and maybe 1ft high plants all along the drive. This could look really nice and will soften the hard scape.

I noticed that you seem to like retaining walls. Here's a photo that kind of breaks up the rock form. Currently you have a long line of the boulders, but I think something like this could be beneficial to you if you want to create a softer look. Just an idea! Good luck!

Just reducing the width of your current driveway would help.

Make sure you call a professional certified arborist to properly trim your tree, don't attempt it yourself. Ask for references. Honestly, a tree can be ruined by a bad trim job, they are too expensive to replace and take too long to grow. An arborist will tell you a pruning plan, this tree should not be topped.
I agree with Kelley, the house colour is similar to the driveway.
Could stone borders be added to the expansion joint locations and the driveway edges? Or, paint the garage sections including the peak a deeper colour of your house colour?
Or, paint the tudor trim boards a deeper colour?

Additional Views. Looking to eliminate the Rock and mulch to the left of driveway. Really liked the idea of staining the driveway and sidewalk to the house. The house faces the West/Southwest so this front area gets the bulk of the hot sun in the afternoon summers in Missouri.

another idea to balance out the humongous driveway would be to make a a path to your frontdoor. I know that would involve some hardscape. do other homes controlled by homeowners association have front entrance that do not rely on their driveway.

I would have to inquire with the HOA but after driving around the neighborhood I have not seen a pathway to the front door other than as you see in the pictures here. Most of the homes come from very similar design plans/layouts, I believe there are eight in total. Nonetheless, that can cause some of the "cookie cutter" look that we are looking to negate.
