Last year was a very good year...I moved into my dream self designed granny cottage. I employed every trick in the book to make the 8m x8m space look light and airy and spacious... and succeeded. It is a simple space. Open rafters, sliding glass doors, a space saving sliding shower room door, continuous flooring and 2 openings between the bedroom and lounge areas allows a view into another space and out into the garden.

At my age I made it as maintenance friendly as possible so with this in mind the exterior is facebrick with an eco friendly unpainted IBR roof. There is an attached single garage with an inter leading door into the bedroom which is a bit odd but works for me as there was nowhere else to put it. A tiny wood burning stove can be used when its cold enough.

My 2 dogs and myself fill the space. I love the sound of the African rain on the tin roof...sometimes it is so loud the TV cant be heard! The winter sun pours in during the winter months so the space is lovely and warm...no jersey needed.
