Once you redo the fireplace that will reduce much of that busy corner. I like the vibrancy of the art above the tv, but I'm more of an art person than a tv person.

Are the furnishings that you will bring to the room neutral or vivacious?

Two pieces above the fireplace is definitely too much. I'm wondering whether the art actually attracts more attention to the TV rather than less. I tend to think those great windows, when paired with the new stone above the fireplace, will pull the eye away from the TV wall of you let it.

The staging is just weird to me - what's up with the curtains? Strongly suggest you reconsider those.

Agreed!!!! Curtains are super weird! We have a large neutral sectional that it was even thinking of flipping the other way so the view is out of the window and would open the room up more to the kitchen which is directly behind it. Maybe even had the tv hung over the fireplace if we can?

I love the idea of adding stones all the way up for fireplace. Consider going with a magnificent live edge huge mantle too. The white mantle really detracts from the fireplace. I'm sorry for the stagers who did this staging. Too busy, too much color, too many prints. Please do not try to emulate this example at all. Although you may have some difficulties with this huge tall room to decorate, it can be a pleasant challenge for you.

Unless you will have a fabulous view from the windows, consider taking grommet top drapes clear across the lower windows.

You could even leave a pretty large space between the uppers & lower windows for some great art. This room is going to present certain challenges for wall art though. Be very careful & use large art where it can handle it & smaller objects where needed as well.

If you hang a small piece where a larger piece would be better it will not look good. You will need to use fewer & larger pieces of art, I think.

I would go with like colored very abstract very large art. Check Z Gallerie for sizes that can go bigger.

wow, the stagger left nothing out here. by that i mean i feel like they threw the kitchen sink at it. i do like the drapes tho.

Thanks Groveraxle! the visual is great! I am shopping for a much more muted rug as well as console and coffee table. Our current sofa (PotteryBarn Pearce) is what we are placing there. I do also want to change the mantel to a wood (dark wood/distressed) mantel. If anyone has any great rug or table ideas I would love them :-)

Well, jent78, you beat me to it. I was just going to suggest a darker timber mantel would go better with the stone.

Just checked your ideabook. Looks like you're somewhere between transitional and rustic. So maybe something in reclaimed wood.

Lose the white mantel shelf. it looks they found it beside the road and slapped it on the stone mantel. if you put a mantel shelf, keep it simple. An aged piece of natural timber would look nice and not distract the eye too much as you follow the stone up the wall.

I hope that they did not pay the person who stage this place too much.

I agree with groveraxle and I like seeing the visual. With the stone on the fireplace going all the way to the ceiling, what do you think about drapes hung from the ceiling? Just on the outside of the windows like the model, but in a softer color, like beige on beige. With all the color in the room below the height of the TV, it needs something else to draw the eye up and around the room. Other wise your eye stops at the fireplace. Just asking.

A long textile wall hanging. Not two pieces of art. Not everyone needs to learn that "less is more". That is an un truthful trendy statement. It is a subjective statement, depending on what is used as less. And what is used as more. (The walls are really high and seem to need something..but not
