I don't have a review on that UV. But I do have a 1500 gallon pond. I used UV's for years because I could not keep my water clear any other way (I thought). Without the UV, my pond would take all summer to "cycle". I'd have clear water for 2 or 3 weeks and then it would turn to pea soup again. The UV worked, but I got tired of having to replace those expensive UV bulbs and or quartz tubes every year.

I read somewhere that "if you can't keep your water from turning green, you don't have enough biological filtration". At that time I had a 27 Gallon storage tub full of brushes and filter material and a 40 Watt UV in my pump tank. I got 2 of those blue 55 gallon barrels and turned them into a modified Skippy style filter and got rid of the UV. I haven't had green water since.

That was 3 years ago and I haven't cleaned the Skippy out either. In the winter I shut the Skippy down. I let about half of the water out via the bottom drains but no gunk comes out (just clear water), so I guess the filters are self cleaning.

I know every pond is different, but maybe you just don't have enough bio filtration. In the long run, you could save money on your electric bill if you and add a Skippy filter and send the UV back.

thanks I'll keep that in mind. As soon as it warms up some here I will get out. Fish seem to be doing just fine, have a floating heater with a pump shooting out air into the water.
