What to do with the mantel and entertainment wall.

I want to mount my television and put some sort of shelving/cabinet units with a modern feel to it should I center the television on the wall or have it off centered and closer to the fireplace? Also what color should I change the mantel to? I have included a few pictures. Please ignore the boxes just moved in this weekend. The drapes will go.

mount your tv above the fire place t will save a ton of rom and open up that hole next wall.

Center the TV- that way, you can move the sectional a bit further away from the windows. The mantel would be nice in a tone similar to something in the stone, either the gray or brown.

Sooz001 is correct. Move the couch further away from the windows. Try to line up the edge to door frame in the picture. Consider adding a backless bench under the space near the windows.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I missed a critical angle, we have stairs that line up with the edge of the wall and door.

move the couch to line up with where the carpet/hardwood meet. then mount the tv right about where it is. something very simple over the mantel, and not a lot on the actual mantel. maybe stain the mantel darker to blend a bit more modern vibe.
