Help all around!

Hello - we just moved into a rental home so not planning on making major paint or window covering changes (unfortunately). However right now this main room is a hodge- podge of our previous furnishings.

Could anyone recommend a coffee table, rug and most importantly throw pillow combinations? We are in our late 20's and on a budget so don't want to go too traditional however do like a little rustic chic flare. Prefer color palette to match the light blue and cream pillows. Couch is gray:brown.

ANY suggestions are much appreciated! Let me know if more pictures, dimensions, etc needed.

See attached.

Hmmm some challenge - nice space! The current coffe table is too small - I would suggest one of those larger square ones ( or the one that is 4 ottomans together that can be pulled apart for extra seating or more tables)....I know you said you weren't going to paint or do window treatments... I think you should reconsider... painting may seem daunting, but it will certainly change the space and it isn't a very expensive option... for window treatments, if you look for a simple pole and panels you could make a big impact there as well... you don't need to get draperies made or anything super fancy......many places like Walmart and Target have panels at pretty inexpensive prices....The set below is about $30 from Walmart.... you then could coordinate those with some wonderful comfy pillows! Also, hang some art work or collections of family photos on the large wall spaces on either side of the window - the frames and mattes will give you another opportunity for color! Even some simple bookcases you put together yourself or a nice open shelving system for some plants - greenery is always great to make a space feel warm and inviting...

    Good luck and have fun!

Thank you both. Mixing and matching pillows is daunting for me but I will keep eye out @sooz001. Debbi thank you for your insight! I have similar drapes that I just didn't think to use in here. Also I was torn over a square table but will go for it! I like the shelving idea as well.

Is my rug positioning way off? I feel like it extends too far from the couch :/

Your rug looks fine. You might want to wait to buy a really beautiful one when you move on to your next place. If you like reclaimed wood, here are some reclaimed wood nesting tables and a large round reclaimed wood coffee table. All are on open legs to balance out the bulk of your large, dark couch. Consider a long console table or cabinet for one of your walls would give you a place for media.

Yes, start looking for a large, bold piece of art that you can grow to love--maybe abstract landscapes in blues, orange, or yellows with some gray browns

that you can tie into your furniture.

I love your rug. I think adding lamps, pictures, and (perhaps) window treatments will take attention off rug - it will flow. I agree with square coffee table, perhaps in a dappled beige metal to take away from too much brown. Objects on table will give depth. You could paint walls and add throw pillows in hues of wall color. Think about how your window looks .. perhaps too cluttered. Remember everything looks stark when you are only in the beginning decor. Just keep adding and you'll achieve a lovely room that you will love and can live with. ..

Note: They have some nice pillow 'covers' at BB&Beyond in a couple different sizes and several colors & patterns. I covered an existing plain color pillow with the beige and off white one (looks pinkish in photo) and like it a lot.

Thought: They have some nice pillow 'covers' @ BB&Beyond. I just covered a plain pillow with the beige & off white print because we got a new picture and it just looks so much better. (Pillow looks pinkish in photo but it's not.)

    Hey there.

I think you need a larger coffee table and media cabinet. Typically I like to add a punch off color or texture to enhance a space with draperies and rugs. Is this a rental? If you can attach windows treatments i think you could change the space dramatically.

I have a few mood boards from recent design projects that may help you out.

Round glass and wood coffee table. Remove the vanes from the verticals and use the little hooks to hang some sheers or crinkle sheer fabric. You'll have to put the vanes back up when you move, but that will give some relief from the built-in rental decor.
