You could purchase some rabbit food from the pet supply store and place it nearby. The wild rabbit that lives in my mom's yard (WI, also very cold) has been eating beneath the bird feeder a lot these days. They actually are pretty sturdy critters, I think. Good luck!

rochesterroseman, you have inspired me...when I was at my mom's house today, topping off her bird feeder, I scattered a lot of extra seed beneath the feeder (for the juncos), and also in the areas where the bunny hangs out. Mom's neighbors park their van in one of her drives (corner lot, two driveways) to make it appear she is not living there alone- and tons of birds and critters seek refuge beneath the van, so I threw extra seed there as well. I have joked with mom that the van should be a designated wild life refuge, LOL.

Please help her. Rabbits are cute, so are hares.
