I waited until the majority of the kitchen was installed to try to decide what to do for paint color and a backsplash. As for paint, I want a neutral but not brown. My kitchen/family room is 45' x 16' so I have a lot of space to cover. I was thinking a happy medium between my white trim and cream cabinets.

For the backsplash: I'm not sure what material/color to use but my cabinets are cream with Spartacus granite and oak hardwood floors. I like the arabesque and subway tiles, and herringbone patterns, but am concerned with longevity. I don't want to go too trendy or use bold colors.

Also, does anyone recommend trim pieces for finishing the edges and tops? I can't take the tile to the ceiling as the cabinets do not go that high and I will be adding 6" crown molding to match the rest of the house. Should I take it to the top of the window or to the bottom of the cabinets?
