Thanks for your question! When you say island, are you referring to the glass table sitting between the 2 rows of cabinets or are you referring to the full distance between the 2 rows. The full distance is 45".

According to the designer, this distance is actually 48", not the 45" I listed earlier. Our designer was actually not in favor of the small glass table cart, given the lack of width the space had. She thinks there was roughly 14-15" space on each side with the glass table being about 18-20" deep. Hope this helps!
