Thanks, sooz001! Unfortunately, moving the TV is not an option - way too much pre-wiring already configured behind the wall and above the fireplace. We actually have a sectional now (the first picture is the accurate picture) instead of a sofa and love seat AND we do currently own the square table. :) The second picture was just to show the leaves (how I had the wall looking previously) but all furniture has changed since then.

I agree with sooz001, the TV would work much better, functionality and design-wise, if placed on the media cabinet wall. In some rooms, having the TV above the fireplace may be the only or better option. However in yours I think it just appears to be too high for comfortable viewing.

So first of all, would you be open to relocating it and secondly how does its size work compared to your current media cabinet? For "best" proportions, the media cabinet should be approximately 25% wider than the TV.

If the TV can't be moved, then perhaps take the lamp off the media console, place a floor lamp at the corner (like in picture 2). This would then open up your options for wall decor above the media console.

By the way, I actually like your current set up much better (picture 1) than the previous one with the leaves. It's a much cleaner look IMO.

We need to see the current set up and furniture. It is a waste of time to speculate about what to do with your old furniture.

An idea for that wall....remove all the small accessories above the console then add colorful, abstract artwork above. Create a vignette of just 3 larger objects on the console. Your lamp can be one of those objects.
