Turn bikes into art with a wall hangers. How about over the desk? Buy another matching bookcase for your books and use the two as a sofa table behind the sofa which should face the fireplace. Use candles in the FP if it doesn't work. Empty the niches and use them for decor, styling with 1/3 hard back books, 1/3 larger accessory decor and 1/3 open space.It might be fun to wallpaper the backs of them. Move the chest and lamp from in front of the door to under the art on the adjacent wall. It it is the matching bookcase, you know what to do the the pair of them. I think a brighter rug with some of the orange in it is needed. Clear the mantel or shelf off, hang the mirror, set the photos in a layered arrangement on top of the new bookcase/sofa table. Take more photos and we'll tweak it.

The room is 13' deep, so when I face the sofa at the fireplace, there isn't enough room to place anything behind the sofa.

Recently we updated the lighting, ceiling fan and window blinds.

It's a slow process!
