Help with mirror choice for bathroom vanity.

Our bathroom renovation is almost complete. I need to decide on a mirror. I know now that the overhead lighting is not the best option, but unfortunately that's what I bought and and the light fixture wasn't cheap so I'm stuck with it for now.

I'm debating whether I want to have small tile back splash. The tiles on the floor and tub/shower surround are simple and clean lined like the rest of the room.

I am now wondering it the light placement is correct? It is okay that it is centered over the vanity, or should it be centered over the sink?

Should I just put a mirror from the top of the vanity to under the light. Or a mirror all the way to the ceiling and mount the light on it.

Another thought was to have a mirror mounted on a 1/2 inch or so thick piece of material of some type leaving an inch border around the edge. Perhaps done in the length of the vanity but much less in height so it has a linear horizontal look to it.

your light placement is perfect. people spend more time doing not in front of the sink things than in front of the sink things. open countertop is wonderful for hair and make up instead of trying to not set things down in the sink or getting hair in it. good work and you didnt know it.

You guys have done great thus far! I think the vanity light placement is perfect, its centered to the vanity not the sink as it should be. I would personally take the mirror up to the ceiling and cut a circle out for the light base plate. Also do not carry the mirror over the toilet area, have the mirror made with the same width dimensions as the vanity. Good Luck!

I think that with the light centered as it is, you'll want a mirror the full width of the vanity, or at least centered the same way. I agree that I wouldn't do the whole wall, but I think you could go to the ceiling the width of the vanity, or just up to the light (maybe a half inch from the bottom of the fixture) the same width. Neat look, have fun!

Hey there.

I think a simple sheet of mirror to the ceiling that is beautifully framed is all you need.

Have you considered 1 wall of wall paper?

Thanks everyone. I was also thinking a nice clean look would be to take the mirror right from the top of the vanity to the ceiling, but wondered if it would be a pain to be trying to clean it in behind the sink and tap all the time?

simple pivot mirror. you will need to get some art or some shelves for the other side, or find a beautiful

You might consider a small 6"-10" backsplash of narrow glass tile and then using a foiled contemporary wallpaper on just the sink wall to distract attention from the toilet and add interest and character.

You have a good eye for this. Great job! Might you consider a leather framed mirror? It would be a very complimenting finish to your already great job. Here are a few looks we've done for other homes. Most of our work is custom, so you can have anything in leather from croc to plaids to hide with nail heads. They are definitely the wow factor pieces to any home.

i would steer clear of circle shaped due to placement of counters. in general, circles look better when vanity is centered.
simple sheet straight up to lighting would look polished
