Thank you! From what I understand, the fabric was laminated between two pieces of glass, so there must be a slight adhesive in the laminate that keeps the fabric from slipping, plus the two pieces of glass pressed together.

The laminated backsplash likely consists of five layers: glass / interlayer / fabric / interlayer / glass; all bonded together under high heat and pressure.

The fabric isn't going to move, it's permanently bonded in place by the interlayer.

The interlayer typically will be either: PVB (polyvinyl butyral - same material used in automotive windshields) or EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate - often used in solar panels). Which interlayer is chosen often depends on best compatibilty with the specific fabric.

There are other interlayer options, but with this type of product likely one of the two mentioned will be used the majority of the time.
